Today especially in the United States there are so many different diets floating around the internet. The truth is the best diet for you is the one you can stick to and be consistent with. Right now all you see on every social media outlet is talk about the Keto diet, IIFYM, and low carb diets. Any diet will work for you as long as you are 1. in a caloric deficient and 2. stick to it for a appropriate amount of time. The problem with many diets now a days is restriction. Diets are teaching us that there are good foods and there are bad foods. Good vs. bad is a horrible way to think about food. There are foods with a higher nutritional vaule and there are foods with a lower nutritional value. I personally believe moderation is the key to any diet. If you are really in tune with your body and listen to your hunger cues self control and moderation are not that difficult. Having one cookie a day is healthier than restricting all week until cheat day then eating an entire pack of cookies. Once you learn to enjoy your favorite foods in moderation food begins to loose it's power and you will no longer have the desire to eat as many cookies as you can because your only allowed to on a certain day. Here is my top 5 tips I've learned about moderation vs. Deprivation over my diet journeys.

1. if your craving it eat it, but just eat a serving vs. the whole thing.

2. DO NOT DEPRIVE YOURSELF

3. Listen to your body hunger cues. Eat when hungry and stop when full.

4. Try not to eat while watching TV. You tend to eat way more than your body needs when your attention is elsewhere during meal time.

5. Always serve yourself then leave the food on the counter so that if you want more you have to physically get up and get it. This will give you time to contemplate if you really want more or your already full.

Thats all for today! Hope you enjoyed the first of many #WellNessWednesday Tips!
